BPS Council

Jessica Regan

My history with the British Palomino Society goes back about 15 years and started with a palomino Welsh section B called Glenlichd Fairgame. We have had some fantastic days with the Society over the years, including successes at the British Palomino Society National Championship Shows. In 2012, I was accepted onto the British Palomino Society judging panel and have also been a member of council for the last 4 years, primarily focusing on marketing (Journal, Facebook etc.). I have recently taken up the position as Chairman, and look forward to pushing the Society forwards over the next couple of years.

Deb Drew

I work full-time in Human Resources in the NHS so generally I don’t have time to do anything other than be a slave to my horses – mostly in the dark!! I have been a member of the BPS since the 1980’s and joined council last year. I am particularly interested in promoting ridden palominos and in ensuring that we have a vibrant, friendly society where generations can marvel at the fields of gold that impressed me in my youth. I am responsible for taking minutes of council meetings and for the BPS archives.

Tracy Hook

I work part time for the NHS in A&E and Outpatients and have bred ponies, cobs and partbreds under the Kemysfawr prefix for over 40yrs. I enjoy showing my ponies in hand and competing in dressage with my Piebald mare Dolly and teaching. I have competed successfully in many disciplines over the years to include ODE, SJ, Dressage, Working Hunter, Ridden Showing and have broken and produced many horses and ponies that have gone on to win at major shows and events My role on the BPS committee is helping with the Judges Panel of which I am looking forward too.

Colin Bramley-Robins

I’ve been involved in the British Palomino Society for over 20 years, and on the judging panel for 15 years. My main passion was showing and breeding Shetlands, but I also had some pure and part bred Arabs, including a palomino stallion Sundancers Legacy of Asil who won the 14.2hh and under championship and supreme champion at the nationals twice.

LISA RANDLE

I have ridden and competed horses for over fifty years in a variety of disciplines, although I have never owned a palomino!  I currently ride an Appaloosa that has been National Champion both ridden and in hand with the Appaloosa Horse Club UK. I have a first class honours degree in equine studies, winning the Equine Thesis of the Year competition in 2011 on the topic of equine obesity.  I am also a BHS accredited coach and particularly enjoy teaching nervous or novice combinations. I have been judging for almost 20 years and have been lucky to represent various judging panels at venues across England and Wales.

CHRIS PORTER

Hi, my name is Christopher Porter. A little information about myself… I have been judging for over 27 years and a panel judge for many societies and associations being on HOYS and RIHS levels. I have owned horses since my early teens and have competed at all levels over the years.

Karen Wood

I have shown, bred and judged a variety of ponies and horses for more years than I care to remember, starting with ridden show ponies, and including Welsh As and Cs, plaited and native coloureds and hacks! My prefix “Leevale” was first registered in 1986, and the last foal I bred was born in 2022. He is called Leevale Jubilee Star, and will be a small hack. I am on several judging panels including the British Palomino Society. I am also the horse secretary for Mottram and District Agricultural Society.

I firmly believe that the ponies and horses we breed should have the looks and presence not only to do well in the show ring, but also to be able to do a job while remaining sound. Conformation, movement and temperament are key.

I was lucky enough to be able to purchase my first palomino in April 2023 in partnership with Harrison Taylor. Penclose Adonis is a young Welsh D stallion and will be aimed at ridden classes once he has matured.

I am delighted to have been accepted on to the British Palomino Society Council and am looking forward to working with everyone to help promote the Society and move it forward."

Sandra Norris

I have been a member of the Society for many years.  My first BPS showing class was in 1979 and I've been hooked ever since. I started breeding in the late 80's and had a great experience breeding and showing palominos and creams but now I have retired from breeding. I was asked to join the Council and proudly accepted.  The family are holding the judges’ training session in March and I will help, support and promote the Society as much as I am able.

Hollie Clark

31 and from Swindon, Wiltshire. My day job is a financial investigator for the Metropolitan Police and come January 2024 I hope to be going on maternity leave to welcome our daughter (hopefully a future BPS Member!).

I am very lucky to show my mums (Anglea Dixon) beautiful Sameon girls - 6yr old Sameon Sun Perfection who is currently in foal to the pure bred Arab Alonzo - due in May 2024 and also show her full sister, the yearling Sameon Spun Saffron. You’ll often see me competing my own Section D in show jumping, working hunter and arena eventing.

DANNI GROGAN

My background in palominos spans back through 3 generations. Together with my mum (Ann Langton) we run Grassendale Stud, which was founded over 80 years ago by my Nan (Mrs O Mason) who was a breeder, show producer and international judge across numerous panels including the BPS. We have a mixture of horses and ponies but our main love is breeding and producing palomino part bred Arabs. I have a daughter Olivia-Jean and partner (Peter) who helps us with the horses. I work full time for the University of Cambridge.

Ruth Roberts

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Council for electing me as Chairman of the Palomino Society and I am really looking forward to the 2024 season.

My background is mainly in show horses now where I own various breeds of mountain and Moorland ponies, part breds, arabians and breed the odd sports horse every other year, I have however been through the stages of the pony club from mountain games, showjumping, eventing and BD dresssage with my children which I enjoyed every moment.  plus i rode myself since the age of 11 so horses have always been a major part of my life.

I'm a panel judge for a few societies which I thoroughly enjoy which stretches back to over 20 years with some of them plus my husband and I do support a lot of societies and shows with sponsorship this we feel gives support to shows where memories are made.

The BPS is a wonderful long standing Society and I am honoured to be a part of it.
