a) Body Coat Colour : the colour of a newly minted gold coin, or three shades lighter or darker. NOTE: White markings and other discolouration should not extend above the line shown on the identification form. White markings caused by injury or freeze-branding on the body shall not debar from registration.
b) Mane and Tail: White, with not more than fifteen percent dark or ’off-coloured’ hairs.
c) Eyes: Dark brown, hazel or black iris, and both of the same colour.
d) Skin: Basically dark, the skin round the eyes and nose may be mouse coloured, brown or black, except where the extension of a white facial marking makes the skin pink.
2. The Register will be in two sections:
a) Pedigree Section for animals with both parents registered with any recognised stud book or register.
b) A register for animals where one or both of whose parents are unregistered or unknown.
3: The breeder of an animal for the purposes of registration is the bona fide owner of its dam at the time of its birth.
4: Any person making application for the registration of an animal with the Society shall be deemed to have agreed to conform with the standing Rules for Registration.
5: Transfers of ownership of a registered animal must be notified to the Secretary within 30 days by the purchaser. This is done by returning the BPS passport or a BPS Transfer of Ownership Form, to the BPS office with the appropriate fee. The passport or transfer form must be signed by the seller to confirm the sale.
6: Any person may register a Prefix with the Society. This he may use for all animals bred by him, subject to acceptance by the Central Prefix Register. No person may change the registered name of an animal.
7: For an animal already registered in another recognised stud book or register to be acceptable for registration with the Society, application for registration must be made in the name registered in such stud book or register together with its stud book or register reference; and that name will appear as the name of the animal when registered with the Society. The other Society passport should accompany the registration application form.
